Who was William “Bill” Davidson Edwards?

William "Bill" Davidson Edwards, Class of 1953, was a fictional alumnus of Davidson College, created by Mike Myers ‘53. As the Alumni Secretary of the Class of 1953, Myers would periodically update his fellow classmates on the dramatic adventures and stories of "good ole Bill" in the Alumni Class Notes. Bill’s memory has been strong at Davidson College and has been honored through various artifacts, including:

  • A stained glass window, once located at the entrance of the laundry building (now Lula Bell’s Resource Center) and now housed in Archives and Special Collections. 
  • A commemorative plate and plaque with the image of Bill Edwards holding a tennis racquet (currently housed in Archives and Special Collections).
  • A memorial book drop, located at the entrance of E.H. Little Library.
  • A grave marker, located in Hobart Park on campus.
