When were the first French courses on African literature offered?

Charles Dockery started offering a course African Literature in French in 1975-76.

The course description reads:
An introduction to African literature in French, focusing on African south of the Sahara, but including works from North Africa. Special attention given to social, political, and prophetic roles of writers before and after independence. The course includes, but is not limited to, works by Laye, Oyono, Ousmane, Senghor, Diop, Kane, and Dib.

That course ran until 1982-83, when it was replaced with Francophone Africa and the Antilles.
