Which floor are the Dewey Decimal books on? Which floor are the Library of Congress books on? How do I know the difference?

Answer

The Dewey Decimal books are located on the top (2nd) floor of the library, and the Library of Congress books are located the basement. Dewey books begin with numbers (ie, 940.57), whereas Library of Congress books begin with letters (ie, PS3567). Library of Congress books always have the year included on the call number, whereas Dewey books very rarely feature the year.
